The History of this Church dates back to 1985 when mass was celebrated at St. Xaviers High School.

In 1990, Fr. Joe D'Souza, priest of Sacred Heart Church, Vashi took charge of the spiritual needs of Nerul Catholics. He got Our Lady of the Visitation Church Trust registered under the Public Trust.

In 1996 Nerul was declared as a Parish Unit under the name Our Lady of the Visitation Church.

On 1st June 1996, Fr. Henry Sequeria was Priest-In-Charge and Trustee of Our Lady of the Visitation Church, Nerul, by Cardinal Simon Pimenta.
