Women Cell

In Our Lady of Visitation (OLVC) Parish, Women's Cell was established in June, 2006. Its motto is to 'Help All', with special focus on the downtrodden, the women and the children. As part of our parish activities, we send our reports and photos regularly to diocese and it is printed in WOW magazine. In July, annually, the women cell meets at the diocesan level and shared information and plans the women's cell activities for the whole year. In our parish, the Women Cell conducts liturgy of Nativity feast mass (8th September) giving importance to the girl child. Every year, International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March and following Sunday we celebrate same with our parish people. Since 2006, we have visited a number of old age homes, orphanages. We have also visited Umerkhadi's women prisoners and children who live with them. We helped a lady in marital distress hire a lawyer and file for divorce. We also accompanied her in the court proceedings. She won the case and got substantial alimony to support herself and her children. We visited Shanti Avedan, a place near Mount Mary Church, Bandra that houses terminally ill cancer patients. We visited Nirmal Niketan Mankurd, Jyoti Center in Taloja. Orphanages in Koperkhairane and Khargar. We visited homebound residents of our parish. We visited general wards of hospitals. Eg: D.Y.
